Karetu Downs’ is situated approximately 63 km north of Christchurch. The farm is 2000 hectares of some flat to rolling downs but mostly hill country land on which we graze sheep & beef cattle. The prominent feature is the hill country which rises to just on 3 thousand feet above sea level. A climb to the top of the farm through tussock tracks provides outstanding views over the countryside looking back to the Southern Alps, the east coast and on a clear day to the South the view of Christchurch and surrounding areas is breath taking. The farm offers over 20 kilometres of back country tracks for you to enjoy at your leisure.

Horse riders are able to bring their own horses with them and ride on the property.

Cyclists bring your bikes and enjoy the hill country climb on the tussock clad tracks or bike along some nice quiet country roads taking in the fantastic scenery the Hurunui district has to offer. Whether you wish to bike the hill country or simply enjoy the country roads the choice is yours.
